Notre Dame’s Receive Big Exciting News this Evening

Notre Dame’s Big Win: ACC’s Leading Scorer to Return for 2025-2026 Season

Markus Burton has decided against entering the transfer portal and will return for his third season at Notre Dame.

While Notre Dame’s men’s basketball team faced a disappointing 2024-25 season and saw several key players enter the transfer portal after the season ended, the Fighting Irish were able to retain their most valuable asset.

Veteran guard Markus Burton, who led the ACC in scoring this past season with 21.3 points per game, will be returning for the 2025-26 campaign.

After Notre Dame’s exit from the ACC Tournament in March, both forward Tae Davis and guard J.R. Konieczny entered the transfer portal.

Despite these departures, Burton’s return is a major boost for Notre Dame as they look ahead to next season. The Fighting Irish are also bringing in a top-10 recruiting class, which includes five-star guard Jalen Haralson and four-star prospects guard Ryder Frost, forward Brady Koehler, and center Tommy Ahneman.

With Burton back and an exciting new class joining, Notre Dame will aim to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022 and for the first time under head coach Micah Shrewsberry.
