Michigan Football Holds Advantage in Recruitment of 2026 Ohio QB
The Michigan Wolverines are reportedly in a strong position to land a 2026 quarterback from Ohio. While preparing for the 2025 season, head coach Sherrone Moore and the Michigan football staff are also focused on building for the future.
For the 2026 recruiting class, Michigan is emerging as a frontrunner for Nathan Bernhard, a promising three-star QB from Ohio. Bernhard is ranked as the No. 24 QB nationally by 247Sports (and No. 31 by On3).
Standing 6-5 and weighing 220 pounds, Bernhard possesses the ideal size and build for a traditional Michigan quarterback. He recently shared with On3 that he feels his style of play would fit well in Ann Arbor, drawing comparisons to past Michigan quarterbacks.
“Looking at the history of quarterbacks at Michigan, there are a lot of similarities between my play style and theirs,” Bernhard said.

Bernhard visited Ann Arbor on Friday, and the trip reportedly went well enough for Michigan to extend an offer. This marks his 13th offer, with other schools like Penn State, Michigan State, Indiana, Louisville, and Duke also in the mix.

Currently, Michigan has three commitments in the 2026 class—Brody Jennings (three-star WR), Bear McWhorter (three-star OL), and Jaylen Pile (three-star WR). The class is currently ranked No. 48 nationally by 247Sports.
