Raiders Set to Part Ways with Jack Jones
The Las Vegas Raiders are in the midst of reshaping their roster to align with the vision of head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek, and it seems cornerback Jack Jones will be the next player on the way out.
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Raiders are set to release Jones after attempts to trade him fell through, calling him “an intriguing option for a CB-needy team.”
Jones, who joined the Raiders in 2024 following a tumultuous stint with the New England Patriots, was considered one of the stronger defenders in their secondary. Despite the team’s overall struggles on defense, Jones stood out, excelling in both run defense and coverage, and had the potential to be a future leader in the Raiders’ secondary.
As reported by Carter Landis, Jones had proven his worth as a vocal leader and a consistent presence on the field. He played 17 games in 2024, starting 16, and posted three interceptions, 69 total tackles, and a career-high 16 passes defended. His performance allowed just a 62.8 completion percentage and a career-low 10.6 yards per completion.
With Jones set to hit free agency in 2026, the Raiders had one more year of control over him. His departure follows the offseason losses of safety Tre’von Moehrig and cornerback Nate Hobbs, making it likely the Raiders will target a cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft to fill the void.
