Texans Linked to Former All-Pro to Aid C.J. Stroud
The Houston Texans have been linked to former All-Pro offensive lineman Brandon Scherff as a potential addition to help support quarterback C.J. Stroud.
So far this offseason, the Texans have not provided Stroud with much help in terms of offensive weapons or protection. However, there are still options available, and Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has highlighted Scherff as an intriguing free-agent candidate.
Knox noted, “The Texans could benefit from adding more depth to their offensive line after allowing 54 sacks in 2024.” Scherff, a five-time Pro Bowler, started all 17 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.
Originally drafted by the Washington Commanders with the fifth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Scherff had a standout career in Washington, earning five Pro Bowl selections and a First-Team All-Pro nod during his seven seasons there. He then signed with the Jaguars in 2022, where he has been durable and reliable, playing every game since joining the team. This is a marked improvement after dealing with injury issues for five consecutive seasons with the Commanders.
Although the 33-year-old may not be at his peak performance level, he remains a solid option for the Texans, who are in dire need of help on the offensive line. While the Texans may still look to the NFL Draft for assistance, adding a veteran like Scherff could provide valuable experience and stability.
