Oregon Ducks tight ends coach Drew Mehringer praised tight end Kenyon Sadiq after Saturday’s spring practice, expressing his excitement over Sadiq’s growth on and off the field. With the departure of former tight ends Terrance Ferguson and Patrick Herbert to the NFL, Sadiq is set to take on a more prominent role in Oregon’s offense for the 2025 season.
Mehringer spoke highly of Sadiq’s character, noting that he’s not only a dedicated and hard worker but also a respectful individual with a positive attitude. “He’s a great kid, the world doesn’t deserve someone as good as him, both as an athlete and as a person,” Mehringer said. He added that while Sadiq still has room to improve, his commitment to hard work and his willingness to take on any task, no matter how unappealing, make him a joy to coach.
Mehringer also mentioned how much fun it’s been to watch Sadiq’s development, especially now that the spotlight is more on him with the departures of Ferguson and Herbert. He highlighted Sadiq’s potential and talent, saying that it’s exciting to see how he is maturing both as a player and as a person.
Sadiq, who was a four-star recruit in the 2023 class, was ranked the No. 4 athlete in the country by 247Sports and the top recruit from Idaho. Fans are eager to see his continued progress. As a freshman, Sadiq appeared in 14 games, recording five receptions for 24 yards and one touchdown. In his sophomore season, he earned a bigger role, finishing the 2024 season with 24 catches for 308 yards and two touchdowns.
