Arizona State Loses Another Key Recruit to Transfer Portal

Arizona State’s men’s basketball team has now lost its entire 2024 recruiting class, with freshman Amier Ali officially entering the transfer portal on Monday. Ali joins five-star recruits Jayden Quaintance and Joson Sanon, who previously entered the portal. ESPN’s Jeff Borzello first reported the news.

Ali, a 6-foot-8 forward, was ranked as an ESPN 100 recruit and played at multiple high schools, including IMG Academy and Montverde Academy. During his freshman season, he averaged 5.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and shot 32.6% from beyond the arc. Ali had his best performance in a 111-106 double-overtime loss to Texas Tech on February 12, scoring a season-high 18 points, going 6-of-7 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range.

With Ali’s departure, a total of seven Arizona State players have entered the transfer portal since it opened on March 24. The portal will remain open until April 22.
