Maryland men’s basketball bolstered its roster on Tuesday by adding former Kansas guard David Coit Jr., who confirmed he was transferring to College Park. Coit Jr. told 247Sports that he was committed to playing under head coach Buzz Williams, stating, “Whether it was Texas A&M or Maryland, I was going to be there with Coach Buzz and the rest of the staff.”

The 5-11 guard had a limited role at Kansas this past season, playing in 34 games with three starts, averaging 5.1 points in just over 15 minutes per game. However, before his time at Kansas, Coit Jr. was a standout scorer at Northern Illinois. In 2022, he averaged 15.5 points, and in his final season there (2022-23), he increased that to 20.8 points per game while shooting nearly 34% from three-point range.
