NC State Basketball $ Will Wade Shares Exciting Transfer Update out of Wolfpack

NC State Basketball Pursues Florida Atlantic Transfer Forward

NC State’s basketball staff wasted no time reaching out to former Florida Atlantic forward Tre Carroll after he entered the transfer portal this week.

For those who questioned the ability of new head coach Will Wade to navigate the fast-moving transfer portal, this quick action should silence any doubts. Wade and his staff have shown they are keeping a close watch on available talent, making contact with Carroll just hours after he entered the portal.

On Monday afternoon, League Ready’s Sam Kayser reported that NC State was one of several programs to quickly reach out to the 6-foot-7, 233-pound forward. This suggests that Carroll is a top target for Wade, though it’s unclear if the interest is mutual at this stage.

Carroll, who spent his entire collegiate career at Florida Atlantic, had a breakout season in 2024 after a more limited role in his first two years. In 34 games, including 14 starts, he averaged 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, shooting 52.3% from the field.

In addition to NC State, other programs such as George Washington, Miami, Providence, UNLV, USC, and Xavier have already reached out to Carroll.

While NC State has mainly focused on recruiting talented guards in the portal, it appears they are now shifting some of their attention toward strengthening their frontcourt for the upcoming season.
