This would be a big-time get for the Sooners.
The Oklahoma Sooners appear to be nearing their first defensive pledge in the 2026 recruiting class.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Oklahoma is currently the favorite to land consensus four-star defensive lineman Deuce Geralds.
Wiltfong reported Monday that the Sooners are in a strong position with Geralds, who said, “The culture and the people are amazing.”

Deuce Geralds is considered one of the premier defensive tackle prospects in the 2026 class, coming out of Collins Hill High School in Georgia. Both On3 and Rivals rank him among the top three defensive linemen nationally, though 247Sports has him lower at No. 20 in their positional rankings.
However, the 247Sports Composite still views Geralds highly, listing him as the No. 6 defensive lineman and the No. 63 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle.
On Wednesday, Geralds announced his top 10 schools, featuring a strong list that includes Oklahoma, Clemson, LSU, Oregon, Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami (FL), Georgia Tech, and Ole Miss. He’s also received offers from other powerhouse programs like Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Penn State, Notre Dame, Missouri, and Florida.
Deuce Geralds was in Norman this past weekend for a visit with Oklahoma after stopping by Ohio State earlier in the week. As of now, he hasn’t taken or scheduled any official visits.
He shared his thoughts on the visit via social media, posting, “Had a great time with @OU_Football, always good vibes!!! #BoomerSooner,” and tagged several coaches and recruiting analysts.
The Sooners have yet to secure a defensive commitment in their 2026 class, which currently features four offensive prospects: quarterback Jaden O’Neal, wide receiver Daniel Odom, offensive lineman Will Conroy, and tight end Ryder Mix.
That could soon change, as Oklahoma remains in the mix for multiple top defensive targets. Four-star defensive end Kevin Ford recently listed OU among his top 12 schools, and four-star linebacker Talanoa Ili included the Sooners in his top 7.
Oklahoma’s 2026 class is expected to gain more clarity once official visits begin picking up momentum in May and June.
