Duke Basketball Emerging as Favorite for Top Uncommitted Point Guard in Transfer Portal
Duke basketball is quickly becoming a frontrunner in the race to land highly sought-after transfer Xaivian Lee, a standout point guard from Princeton.
Although the Blue Devils’ offseason is just five days in and no official announcements have been made regarding player departures for the NBA or transfer portal, head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff are actively pursuing reinforcements. And Lee may be their first major addition.
According to Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68, Duke is one of three top programs in contention for Lee, alongside St. John’s and reigning national champion Florida. Goodman noted that Duke and Florida appear to be the frontrunners.

“Those are the three, from what I’m told,” Goodman said on a recent Field of 68 podcast. “But I think it’s gonna come down to Duke and Florida, ultimately. You’ve got the academic appeal of Duke, especially coming from the Ivy League, and Florida just won a national title.”
Lee, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard from Toronto, has built a strong reputation for his high basketball IQ, playmaking abilities, and pro-level potential — all while playing in the Ivy League. He turned heads last season by averaging 16.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, shooting 43.9% from the floor, 36.6% from beyond the arc, and nearly 79% from the free-throw line.
With the transfer market heating up, Duke looks poised to make a strong early move — and Xaivian Lee could be their next big addition.
