Fielder averaged 7.1 points and 5.4 rebounds last season
The Boise State men’s basketball program continues to be active in the transfer portal.
Just two days after starting center Emmanuel Ugbo entered the portal, the Broncos landed a key commitment from former Georgetown forward Drew Fielder. Fielder had originally pledged to USC, but ultimately chose to sign with Boise State instead.
The news was first reported Wednesday by Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of 247Sports.
Ranked No. 111 in the transfer portal by 247Sports, Fielder will arrive in Boise with two years of eligibility. The 6-foot-11 forward started all 31 games for Georgetown last season, averaging 7.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assist. The Hoyas finished the year 18-16 overall and 8-12 in Big East play, falling to Nebraska in the College Basketball Crown quarterfinals.
Nebraska went on to beat both Boise State and UCF en route to the tournament title.
A native of Meridian, Idaho, Fielder began his high school career at Rocky Mountain High before transferring to SoCal Academy in California. He was rated the No. 132 overall prospect in the 2023 class by 247Sports and chose Georgetown over offers from Arizona State, Creighton, Maryland, Miami, Syracuse, and others.
As a true freshman in 2023-24, Fielder played in 32 games and posted averages of 5.2 points and 3.1 rebounds.
He’ll be in the mix to start at forward or center for the Broncos next season, with the team needing to replace key frontcourt players Tyson Degenhart and O’Mar Stanley (both graduated), as well as Dylan Anderson and Ugbo, who hit the portal.
Fielder becomes Boise State’s second transfer addition this spring. Last week, the Broncos added former UCLA point guard Dylan Andrews.
Andrews started 29 games for the Bruins last season and averaged 6.9 points and 3.4 assists. As a sophomore, his production increased to 12.9 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
In total, the Broncos have seen four players enter the portal: Anderson, Ugbo, and freshman guards Moses Hipps and Chris Lockett Jr.
Hipps redshirted last season while Boise State went 26-11 and reached the Crown semifinals, ultimately being among the first four teams left out of the NCAA Tournament.
Ugbo started 12 games in his sophomore campaign, averaging 3.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10 minutes per game.
Anderson and Lockett Jr. each played in 24 games last season but saw limited action down the stretch in Mountain West play. Anderson, a transfer from Arizona, averaged 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds, while Lockett Jr. contributed 3.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest.
