4-Star Recruit Peyton Dyer Decommits from South Carolina, Shifting Commitment to USC Trojans

Class of 2026 four-star cornerback Peyton Dyer has opened up his recruitment after decommitting from South Carolina earlier this week. Dyer had been committed to the Gamecocks since November 2024 but is now exploring other options, with the USC Trojans emerging as a strong contender for his services.

Along with USC, Dyer is also being pursued by Ohio State and Georgia, making for a competitive recruiting battle.

Upcoming Visits for Peyton Dyer

Dyer, a 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback from Duluth, Georgia, is rated as the No. 27 cornerback in the 2026 class by the 247Sports Composite rankings. He has scheduled official visits to USC, Georgia, and South Carolina for this June. On3 national scout Cody Bellaire spoke highly of Dyer’s abilities, noting his impressive ball skills and size for the position.

“Peyton Dyer is a playmaker when the ball is in the air,” Bellaire said. “He broke up 12 passes and intercepted one last season. His combination of size and ball skills makes him a standout.”

Dyer also visited Georgia earlier this year and spoke positively about the experience:
“I had a great time at Georgia. I met with Coach Kirby Smart, we watched film, and I got a feel for the program. They’re definitely one of my top schools, and I’ll be visiting them officially.”

With these official visits on the horizon, it will be interesting to see where Dyer ultimately lands after weighing his options.
