Indiana Reportedly in Contact with Big Sky MVP Guard Dylan Darling
Indiana men’s basketball is continuing its aggressive search for players who align with new head coach Darian DeVries’ system, and one of their latest reported targets is the 2025 Big Sky Conference MVP.
According to On3Sports.com, Indiana has reached out to 6-foot-2 Idaho State guard Dylan Darling, a Spokane, Washington native who averaged an impressive 19.8 points, 5.7 assists, and shot 35.6% from three-point range last season. His style of play fits well with DeVries’ guard-oriented system, making him a compelling target for the Hoosiers.
Darling isn’t new to high-level basketball—he began his collegiate career at Washington State, where he played two seasons, though one was impacted by injury. In 2023, he averaged 1.7 points in a reserve role and appeared in just three games in 2024 before transferring to Idaho State. Notably, he was once teammates with former Indiana guard Myles Rice during his time with the Cougars.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Darling could provide Indiana with a proven scoring option and veteran presence in the backcourt. The Hoosiers have already shown interest in other high-performing mid-major stars, including Sun Belt Player of the Year Tayton Conerway.
While there’s always speculation about whether production at a mid-major level will translate to the Big Ten, there are recent examples of success. Dalton Knecht, for instance, made a significant leap after transferring from Big Sky member Northern Colorado to Tennessee, eventually becoming an NBA first-round pick.
Indiana has ramped up its recruiting efforts since the NCAA’s dead period ended on Friday, hosting several players for visits. So far, the Hoosiers have added guard Conor Enright, wing Tucker DeVries, and forward Reed Bailey to the roster, along with incoming freshman Trent Sisley.
Darling could be the next key piece in Indiana’s rebuilding efforts under Coach DeVries.
