The Hokies picked up a special teamer in the Class of 2026.
Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry has just one commitment so far in the 2026 recruiting class — wide receiver Carnell Warren out of South Carolina, who pledged to the Hokies back in February. Virginia Tech previously held a commitment from quarterback Peyton Falzone, but he decommitted in November and announced his commitment to Penn State and James Franklin on Saturday night.
In recent recruiting cycles, Pry has emphasized a “family” culture, often bringing in younger siblings of current or former players. However, that trend hasn’t always held — for instance, while former Hokies cornerback Mansoor Delane transferred to LSU this offseason, his younger brother, a top Virginia Tech target, committed to Ohio State instead. But on special teams, that family trend is very much alive.
Will Love Commits to Virginia Tech
Special teams have been a strong suit for Pry’s Hokies, thanks in part to standout kicker John Love, who delivered some memorable moments last season — including a 57-yard field goal against Miami and a 60-yarder in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl loss to Minnesota. That kicking talent will soon run in the family.
On Sunday morning, John’s younger brother, Will Love, a rising senior at Spartanburg High School in South Carolina, announced his commitment to Virginia Tech. He chose the Hokies over offers from programs like Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Georgia. In the end, it was the family ties to Blacksburg that helped seal the deal, giving Pry another powerful leg to look forward to in the coming seasons.
