Houston Texans Eye Promising Tight End Prospect with Local Ties
The Houston Texans recently hosted a workout for Northwestern tight end Thomas Gordon, signaling their interest in the potential addition. Gordon, a Houston native and former Strake Jesuit standout, participated in the team’s annual local prospect day.
During his final season at Northwestern, Gordon recorded 27 catches for 252 yards and one touchdown. While his stats aren’t eye-popping, he’s recognized for his blocking ability—an often undervalued asset in a tight end group.
This offseason, the Texans are reshaping their roster around rising star quarterback C.J. Stroud. The team has parted ways with offensive linemen Laremy Tunsil and Kenyon Green, as well as wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who left in free agency. To fill those gaps, they brought in offensive linemen Cam Robinson and Trent Brown, and traded for wideout Christian Kirk.
Though these are strong moves, Houston still has work to do to fully support Stroud. Bringing in a tight end like Gordon could strengthen the position group with both blocking and reliable hands. His Houston roots could also endear him to fans, should the Texans decide to bring him aboard.
