According to Osterman, Johnson previously served in the program under former head coach Tom Crean. Since leaving in 2014, he has held positions at Louisville, La Salle, and as head coach at National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland. He also worked under former Indiana coach Archie Miller at Rhode Island before his time at Georgetown.

Johnson brings valuable recruiting skills to DeVries’ staff, particularly with his connections in the DMV area, a significant talent source that has attracted attention from Crean and other coaches during Johnson’s tenure. This is one reason for his role at Georgetown, which is based in Washington D.C.

As the transfer portal becomes more active, DeVries has added another effective recruiter to his staff as he aims to assemble his first roster in Bloomington for the 2025-26 season.
