Purdue Linebacker Landon Drennan to Enter NCAA Transfer Portal Following Spring Practice
After one season with the Boilermakers, Purdue redshirt freshman linebacker Landon Drennan has announced his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The Indiana native shared the news on Saturday, stating he will begin exploring new opportunities outside of West Lafayette.
Drennan becomes the second Purdue player this spring to declare his intention to transfer, joining defensive end Logan Jellison.
In a message posted to social media, Drennan thanked the Purdue football program for its role in his development. “First and foremost, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Purdue Football — the coaching staff, my teammates, and the entire Boilermaker community — for giving me the opportunity to grow both as an athlete and as a man,” he wrote. “My time here has been filled with unforgettable memories, valuable lessons, and relationships that will last a lifetime.”

He added that the decision came after careful consideration and conversations with his family and loved ones, and emphasized his excitement for the next phase of his football career. “This decision wasn’t easy, but I’m ready to work hard and excited for my future in football,” Drennan wrote. “With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with four years of eligibility remaining.” He ended his post with a confident message: “Betting on myself… entering the portal with hunger and heart.”
Drennan joined Purdue as a walk-on in 2024 but did not appear in any games during his redshirt season. He’ll have all four years of eligibility available at his next stop.
Before arriving at Purdue, Drennan was a standout at Plainfield High School in Indiana, where he totaled 255 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, nine fumble recoveries, and six forced fumbles over his high school career.
