Ryan Silverfield’s Job Gets More Challenging as Another Top Star Hits Transfer Portal

Memphis Quarterback Harris Boyd Enters Transfer Portal

Memphis quarterback Harris Boyd has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal, making the announcement on X earlier this week.

With starting quarterback Seth Henigan heading to the NFL after leading the Tigers to an impressive 11-2 record in 2024, the battle for the starting role is now between Nevada transfer Brendan Lewis and incoming freshman AJ Hill. Boyd was expected to be in the mix but has opted to explore opportunities elsewhere.

A redshirt sophomore, Boyd didn’t see any action in 2023 as he redshirted during Memphis’ 10-3 season. In 2024, he saw limited playing time, appearing in three games and completing one pass for 14 yards. He also recorded a four-yard rushing touchdown during a dominant 53-18 victory over UAB.

Listed at 6’2″ and 195 pounds, Boyd hails from Rowlett, Texas. He was rated as a two-star recruit coming out of high school and chose Memphis over offers from Arkansas State, Houston Christian, and Indiana.
