Houston Guard Milos Uzan Declares for NBA Draft, May Still Return
Houston junior guard Milos Uzan has entered his name into the NBA Draft, though he still has until May 28 to either remain in the draft, return to college basketball, or transfer to another program.
Uzan made a significant impact in his first season with the Cougars after transferring from Oklahoma, helping lead the team to the national championship game. Despite a challenging start—he suffered a preseason nose injury and the Cougars opened 4-3—Uzan found his stride during conference play. He played a key role in Houston’s dominant 19-1 Big 12 run and scored a career-high 25 points in their Big 12 Tournament championship win.

One of his most memorable performances came in the Sweet 16, where Uzan scored 22 points and hit the game-winning shot against Purdue with under a second remaining.
For the season, the 6-foot-4 point guard averaged 11.4 points, 4.3 assists, and shot an impressive 43% from three-point range, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors.
ESPN NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony praised Uzan’s size, improved shooting, finishing ability, and defensive progress, noting that he rarely turns the ball over.
Uzan is the second Cougar to exit following the team’s loss to Florida in the national title game, with Terrance Arceneaux entering the transfer portal earlier this week.
If Uzan stays in the draft, Coach Kelvin Sampson may look to the transfer portal for a replacement, with Creighton transfer Pop Isaacs mentioned as a potential fit—though Isaacs is more of a scorer than a true point guard. Alternatively, freshman Kingston Flemings could be an in-house option.
Ultimately, Houston’s offseason plans could hinge on Uzan’s final decision.
