Louisville WR JoJo Stone Expected to Enter Transfer Portal
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Wide receiver Joseph “JoJo” Stone is planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per a report from 247Sports’ Chris Hummer. He becomes the second Louisville player to announce intentions to transfer following the conclusion of spring practices, joining offensive lineman Austin Collins. The spring transfer portal window officially opens on Wednesday, April 16.
Stone, who stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 190 pounds, was a well-regarded prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. At one point ranked as high as No. 68 nationally in the 247Sports Composite, his ranking later dropped to No. 540 due to injuries during his high school career. Initially committed to LSU, Stone eventually flipped to Louisville.
In his freshman season, Stone saw very limited action. He played just two offensive snaps and one special teams snap in the season opener against Austin Peay, followed by 10 special teams snaps in the Sun Bowl against Washington. This spring, he had mostly been practicing with the second and third-string units.
Despite the growing number of departures—Stone marks the 21st player to leave the team this offseason—Louisville has remained aggressive in the portal. So far, the Cardinals have secured 20 incoming transfers and are expected to continue adding talent during the spring window.
Under head coach Jeff Brohm, the Cardinals ended the 2024 season with a 9-4 record, capped off by a thrilling 35-34 Sun Bowl win over Washington. Brohm’s third season at the helm kicks off on August 30 against Eastern Kentucky at L&N Stadium.
