Kansas State Suffers Major Blow as Star Guard Dug McDaniel Enters Transfer Portal
Kansas State’s offseason challenges continue to mount, with standout point guard Dug McDaniel becoming the latest player to enter the transfer portal on Monday evening, according to On3Sports.

McDaniel joins a growing list of key departures for the Wildcats, who have already lost frontcourt contributors Macaeleb Rich and Ugonna Onyenso. McDaniel’s exit is particularly significant, as he played a crucial role in the team’s midseason six-game winning streak. After a slow start, he emerged as a reliable playmaker and scorer, averaging 11.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game.
With McDaniel gone, Kansas State now faces the challenge of replacing its primary floor general. The team has lost all of last season’s starters, along with several important bench players. Senior guard Max Jones is currently the only starter expected to return—though even his status remains uncertain.
The departures of McDaniel and Brendan Hausen leave a major void in the backcourt, while the exits of Coleman Hawkins and David N’Guessan significantly weaken the frontcourt in terms of both experience and production.
