Saints’ Polarizing Addition Predicted by NFL Experts
The NFL world is buzzing with excitement as the draft approaches, and one of the biggest questions right now is what the New Orleans Saints will do with the No. 9 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft on April 24th.
This topic has been a hot discussion point for a while, and the conversation has only intensified following the news of Derek Carr’s mysterious shoulder injury. While the Saints have several needs, quarterback has now become their most urgent concern. Could a top prospect like Shedeur Sanders fall to them at No. 9? According to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates, that might very well happen.
In a recent mock draft, Yates predicted: “No. 9, New Orleans Saints: Yates’ pick: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado. With uncertainty surrounding Derek Carr’s 2025 season due to his shoulder injury, the Saints have to consider drafting a quarterback. Sanders brings excellent accuracy, poise, and toughness—qualities that should appeal to new coach Kellen Moore as New Orleans looks to remain competitive in the division.”
Sanders has been a somewhat controversial figure in the draft process, with some speculating he could go as high as the top three picks. This talk gained traction again after Sanders’ workout with the New York Giants on Tuesday.
However, there are others who view Sanders as more of a second-round pick rather than a top-tier selection.
At this point, it’s still unclear, but it’s worth noting that respected insiders like Yates and Kiper Jr. believe it’s a real possibility that Sanders could be the Saints’ choice.
