Tyler Warren Could Revolutionize the Rams Offense
The Los Angeles Rams could elevate their offense to a whole new level by adding standout tight end Tyler Warren, as suggested by NFL analyst Maurice Jones-Drew. He proposed that the Rams trade up to secure Warren, highlighting the potential impact he could have.
“I’d love to see the Los Angeles Rams move up and grab a top-tier tight end, specifically Tyler Warren,” Jones-Drew wrote.
With eight draft picks, including the 26th overall, the Rams lack a second-rounder, meaning they might need to part with a future first-round pick to move up. However, given Les Snead’s history of trading away high picks—remember his “F— them picks” approach—Jones-Drew believes this wouldn’t stop the Rams from making a bold move to add a major talent to an offense that needs to make the most of Matthew Stafford’s remaining years.
Jones-Drew’s analysis rings true. If the Rams were to add Warren, his impact could be game-changing for the offense.
Warren would immediately extend the careers of both tight end Tyler Higbee and quarterback Matthew Stafford. If either player decides to retire after 2025, Warren would allow Higbee to rest more often to stay healthy, while Stafford would have a reliable target to avoid sacks and minimize hits.
From a schematic perspective, Warren would be incredibly versatile. He could play tight end, slot receiver, running back, fullback, or H-back—basically any role needed to diversify the offense.
As a tight end, Warren brings solid hands, a strong build, and the ability to make plays. Coming from a program known for producing NFL-quality tight ends, he’d help the Rams run more tight-end-heavy formations, which would add flexibility to their offense.
In the backfield, Warren could act as an extra blocker, a pass-catching option, and a tool for Stafford’s pre-snap audibles.
If head coach Sean McVay wants to get creative, he could design plays that match Warren up against linebackers, opening up another avenue for the Rams to gain yardage.
Tight end remains the missing piece for the Rams. With the roster solid at nearly every other position, adding Warren would give them a significant upgrade, particularly with Higbee’s age and injury history as potential concerns.
Landing Warren would be a major step toward building a championship-caliber offense and could be the spark the Rams need to make another deep playoff run.
