Penn State Hits Another Massive Addition to 2026 Recruiting Class

Penn State has secured its second verbal commitment from Maryland for the 2026 recruiting class, according to various reports.

Darrell Carey, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety from DeMatha Catholic, chose James Franklin’s Nittany Lions on Friday.

Carey opted for Penn State over offers from Oregon, Maryland, South Carolina, and Texas A&M, as reported by On3.

Carey is the second player to verbally commit to Penn State’s 2026 class in the past week.

The Nittany Lions welcomed a commitment from four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone from Nazareth Area High School last weekend.

Additionally, Maryland wide receiver Lavar Keys, who also plays at DeMatha Catholic, committed to the 2026 class last summer.
