Texas Tech secures transfer forward from Villanova, former top recruit in Texas

Texas Tech continues to strengthen its roster through the transfer portal, positioning its basketball program for a potential championship run in 2025-26. On Friday, the Red Raiders announced the addition of forward Josiah Moseley, who is transferring from Villanova. Moseley, standing 6-6 and weighing 228 pounds, had limited playing time during his freshman year with the Wildcats, averaging 10.2 minutes per game. He ended his first season with averages of 1.9 points and 2.3 rebounds.

As a recruit, Moseley was highly sought after. 247Sports ranked him as the nation’s No. 11 forward and the top overall recruit in Texas.

Here’s what 247Sports recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins had to say about Moseley’s potential:

“Moseley was one of the most impressive stock risers in high school basketball last summer, showing increased aggression that boosted his performance on both ends of the floor. Although a bit undersized for the four spot, he possesses a college-ready frame with room for growth. He understands the importance of rebounding, plays explosively in tight spaces, and has a soft touch in mid-range areas. Trained as a guard growing up, Moseley has the potential to be a versatile inside-out threat. He can lead a fast break after securing a defensive rebound. Kyle Neptune is getting a prototypical forward, the kind of player that Villanova has had success with over the years. Moseley’s decision to commit to Villanova is expected to be a great fit for both him and the program.”
