Breaking: Texas Tech Secures Major Recruiting Victory

Texas Tech Adds Gatorade Player of the Year to 2025 Recruiting Class

Texas Tech continues to build for the future, securing a top-tier guard from Minnesota for its 2025 recruiting class.

Over the weekend, the Red Raiders added a major piece when Nolan Groves, the Gatorade Player of the Year in Minnesota, committed to the program, becoming the first and only recruit in the class so far.

The 6-5, 200-pound guard initially committed to Yale in June but decommitted on April 12. The very next day, Texas Tech extended an offer, and Groves visited the campus on April 18. By the following day, he had committed to the Red Raiders.

Groves had an outstanding senior year at Orono, averaging 34.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

“I really like what’s happening at Texas Tech,” Groves said. “They almost took down Florida, the national champs. They had an amazing team last year and have a lot of great players returning, plus some solid additions from the transfer portal.”
