Jets Identified as ‘Potential Fit’ for Trade Involving Star Tight End Kyle Pitts

The New York Jets could be a strong candidate to land tight end Kyle Pitts.

This offseason, the Jets made notable moves, including acquiring Justin Fields, but they also saw the departures of key players like Davante Adams and Tyler Conklin. Replacing Conklin will be a significant challenge, and while the Jets are reportedly eyeing Penn State tight end Tyler Warren with their No. 7 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, they might opt for an offensive lineman instead.

Given this situation, pursuing a tight end through a major offseason trade makes sense for the Jets.

Pro Football Network recently listed New York as a potential destination for Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts in a blockbuster trade.

“Pitts could be an underrated trade asset,” PFSN wrote. “He’s playing out the fifth-year option on his rookie deal after a disappointing season, averaging just 35.4 receiving yards per game. With an impending massive contract extension for Drake London, Pitts’ role in Atlanta has diminished, with the tight end seeing under 40 snaps per game for the first time in his career under a new coaching staff.”

Pitts’ time in Atlanta may be coming to a close. The Falcons have struggled to fully utilize his talents, and a change of scenery could be the best move for both sides.

For the Jets, adding Pitts would be a game-changing move for Fields’ offense. With only one established pass catcher—Garrett Wilson—the addition of Pitts would provide a dynamic second option, greatly enhancing their offensive weaponry.
