Indiana has added Ohio linebacker/running back Henry Ohlinger to the 2026 recruiting class.
Ohio prospect Henry Ohlinger has committed to the Indiana football program. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound standout from Grandview Heights High School in Columbus is the second commitment for Curt Cignetti and his staff in the 2026 recruiting class.
Ohlinger is classified as a running back in the 247Sports database, but he plays both offense and defense in high school. The Hoosiers plan to utilize him as a linebacker on defense. He mentioned that he doesn’t have a preference for which position he plays in college.
“I’ll play wherever I’m needed,” Ohlinger stated when asked about his position preference. “I believe that each position makes me a better player overall, and I trust my coaches to place me in the best situations to help the team succeed.”
The talented athlete has visited Bloomington multiple times this year, and after a junior day visit in February, he expressed his admiration for the Indiana program.
“I felt the momentum at IU,” he said regarding his junior day visit. “Coach Cignetti and everyone there are focused on the effort required to win games and establish a football powerhouse in Bloomington.”
Ohlinger had the opportunity to interact with defensive coordinator Bryant Haines during his visits and appreciated the effort Haines made to ensure he and his parents felt comfortable.
“Coach Haines took the time to review film, explain their operations, and answer questions about what he’s building at IU,” Ohlinger mentioned. “He made my family and me feel at home and offered a glimpse of what’s possible on and off the field if I’m willing to put in the work.”
Ohlinger chose Indiana over offers from schools like Iowa, Purdue, Rutgers, Boston College, Cincinnati, Miami (FL), Virginia, Bowling Green, Buffalo, East Carolina, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Toledo, Columbia, Cornell, and Yale.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Ohlinger is the 15th best prospect in Ohio and the 24th ranked running back in the country. Last season on defense, he recorded 17 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two interceptions. On offense, he rushed for 1,582 yards and scored 27 touchdowns on 121 carries.
