Cincinnati Lands UCF Transfer Center Moustapha Thiam in Major Commitment

CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati made a big move in the transfer portal this week, adding UCF center Moustapha Thiam to its roster. The 7-2, 235-pound freshman is staying in the Big 12 after a standout season in which he had a significant impact on the Bearcats last year, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

Thiam averaged 10.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game last season, leading the Big 12 in blocks with a solid 49.8% shooting from the field (and 29.1% from three on 2.3 attempts per game).

The talented rim protector still has three years of eligibility remaining and could become the top center under head coach Wes Miller at Cincinnati. In the Bearcats’ final game of the season, Thiam posted 13 points, five rebounds, and two blocks on 6-of-9 shooting against UC.

Thiam’s addition enhances Cincinnati’s lineup flexibility and spacing as he looks to strengthen his NBA Draft stock this fall. He’s expected to be the starting center next season, with Jalen Haynes, Tyler McKinley, and Halvine Dzellat rounding out the frontcourt options.
