Cowboys Football Strikes Gold -Fans are Buzzing

Oklahoma State has added another defensive prospect out of the transfer portal.

Oklahoma State has bolstered its defensive lineup ahead of the 2025 season by adding North Carolina defensive back DeAndre Boykins, as reported by 247Sports.

The 6-foot-2 defensive back from Concord, NC had a breakout performance for the Tar Heels during the 2022 season, recording 67 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception as UNC finished with a 9-5 record. However, Boykins has faced injuries that sidelined him for the entire 2023 season, and his performance declined last year as he appeared in only nine games, contributing six tackles and a pass breakup over 103 defensive snaps.

During his three years at Chapel Hill, Boykins averaged a Pro Football Focus rating of 61.1.

He is the latest experienced addition to Oklahoma State’s secondary this offseason, joining several other defensive backs who signed in December, including Jeremy Cook (East Miss.), Jaylin Davies (UCLA), JK Johnson (LSU), Mordecai McDaniel (Charlotte), Carrington Pierce (Chaffey College), and Chase Pinkston (Jones College).

Boykins marks the fifth defensive transfer acquired this spring and the ninth overall transfer addition. The Cowboys currently have the No. 31 transfer portal class with a total of 32 new players on the roster.
