“Strong Visit, Impressive Facility, Top-notch Coaches”: Transfer CB Weighing Auburn
Tulane transfer cornerback Rayshawn Pleasant recently toured Auburn’s campus, as the Tigers continue to reshape their roster through the NCAA Transfer Portal. Despite also visiting USC and planning a trip to Ole Miss, Pleasant’s stop at Auburn left a lasting impression, according to Auburn Rivals.
“Great visit, great facility, great coaches,” Pleasant said, as reported by Caleb Jones of Rivals. “I definitely feel like I could come here, make an impact, and succeed in my career.”
A rising junior, Pleasant would provide Auburn with a solid, multi-year asset for its defensive backfield as coach Hugh Freeze works to strengthen the Tigers’ defense. Over two seasons at Tulane, Pleasant racked up 40 tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery, and one interception.
One of the highlights of Pleasant’s visit was a conversation with Auburn’s cornerbacks coach, Wesley McGriff.
“His vision for me is to make me a first-rounder,” Pleasant shared. “He’s coached players before, knows what it takes, and believes he can do the same with me.”
While Auburn has faced struggles in recent years, including four consecutive losing seasons, the Tigers are looking to bounce back with a revamped roster through high school and transfer portal recruiting. Though the outcomes of these moves are yet to be seen, Auburn is betting on a strong third season under Freeze’s leadership.
For Pleasant, a key factor in his decision is finding a program that can compete for a title.
“Championship, winning a championship,” Pleasant said. “That’s my main focus—winning, that’s all I want to do.”
If Pleasant decides to join Auburn, he would become the Tigers’ 18th transfer overall and the fourth defensive back transfer for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
