Tulane transfer corner Rayshawn Pleasant recently visited the Auburn Tigers.
In an effort to continue rebuilding its roster through the NCAA Transfer Portal, the Auburn Tigers recently welcomed Rayshawn Pleasant, a cornerback transferring from Tulane. Although Pleasant has already visited USC and is scheduled to visit Ole Miss, his trip to Auburn has made a significant impression, according to Auburn Rivals.
“Great visit, amazing facility, excellent coaches,” Pleasant shared, as reported by Rivals’ Caleb Jones. “I can definitely see myself coming here and making an impact while being successful in my career.”
As a rising junior, Pleasant would provide the Tigers with a valuable multi-year addition to their secondary as Hugh Freeze works to overhaul Auburn’s defense. In his two seasons at Tulane, Pleasant recorded 40 tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery, and one interception.
A standout moment from Pleasant’s visit was his discussion with Auburn’s cornerbacks coach, Wesley McGriff.
“His vision for me is to become a first-round draft pick,” Pleasant mentioned. “He has successfully developed players before and believes he can do the same with me.”
Despite facing challenges with four consecutive losing seasons, Auburn is aiming to regain its competitive edge through significant recruitment efforts both from high school and the transfer portal. The success of these strategies is yet to be determined, but the Tigers are fully committing to Freeze’s third season as head coach.
Pleasant is particularly interested in joining a program that aspires to compete for championships.
“Winning a championship is the most important thing to me,” Pleasant stated. “That’s all I want to do.”
If Pleasant decides to join Auburn, he would become the 18th transfer overall and the fourth defensive back transfer in preparation for the 2025-26 season.
