Commodores Football Hits Smashing Commitment -Fans are Buzzing

The Commodores got their second commitment from a defensive lineman Wednesday afternoon after losing a 2024 starter to the spring transfer portal.

Vanderbilt has gained its second commitment from the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Mason Nelson, a former defensive lineman from Western Michigan, announced his decision to join Vanderbilt on his personal Instagram account on Wednesday afternoon.

Nelson brings considerable experience to the Commodores, having played in 37 games over four seasons at Western Michigan. During his time there, he totaled 71 tackles, with 31 being solo, as well as achieving 13.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and one forced fumble.

His statistical performance peaked last season, when he recorded 30 total tackles, 12 solo tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass breakup, and a forced fumble.

Nelson becomes the second defensive lineman to join the Commodores, following Jaylon Stone from Southeast Missouri State, who committed to Vanderbilt on Tuesday.
