NC State Basketball Linked to Promising ACC Big Man
NC State basketball coaches are reportedly emerging as strong contenders to land North Carolina native James Scott from the transfer portal. After one season each at Louisville and the College of Charleston, Scott entered the transfer portal just ahead of this week’s deadline. Given his ties to North Carolina and the Wolfpack’s need for post players, it’s no surprise that NC State is showing serious interest, as confirmed by NC State Wolfpack On SI.
The 6-foot-11, 220-pound sophomore, a former three-star recruit from E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, NC, played 35 games for Louisville last season, including 31 starts. He averaged 7.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks, while shooting an impressive 75.5% from the field. However, he struggled with free-throw shooting, making just 43.5% of his attempts.
As a freshman at the College of Charleston, Scott posted similar shooting stats, averaging 5.0 points and 3.4 rebounds over 35 games.
Under new head coach Will Wade, NC State has already added three transfers, all guards or wings: Alyn Breed, Quadir Copeland, and Tre Holloman. Now, they may be eyeing Scott as a potential key piece in the post for the upcoming season.
