Former FIU edge rusher Eddie Walls III has announced his commitment to Houston, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Walls, who has one year of eligibility left, spent just one season at FIU.

During his single season with the Panthers, Walls played in 11 games, recording 30 total tackles (15 solo, 15 assisted), six tackles for loss, and a team-high five sacks, which ranked sixth in Conference USA. He earned an impressive 88.7 PFF pass rush grade and registered 40 quarterback pressures.

Standing 6’4″ and weighing 250 pounds, the Fort Myers native became the first FIU defensive starter to enter the spring transfer portal, even after staying with new head coach Willie Simmons throughout the spring. Walls missed the spring season while recovering from an injury.

Prior to his time at FIU, Walls spent three seasons at Bethune-Cookman. In 2023, he started 11 games, posting 45 tackles (17 solo, 28 assisted), 14.5 tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and four sacks for the Wildcats.

Despite a 4-8 season in 2023 and a 3-6 record in conference play, Houston’s defense ranked second in the Big 12, meaning Walls will add valuable depth to the squad.
