Rams Strengthen Offense with Addition of Terrance Ferguson in NFL Draft
The Los Angeles Rams are focused on building one of the league’s top rosters, and they made another strong move to strengthen their offense by adding pass catcher Terrance Ferguson in the NFL Draft. The Rams targeted a talented yet affordable option, and they succeeded in doing so on Day Two of the draft. Pro Football Network gave the Rams a B+ for their selections during the draft’s second day.
In their first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Rams selected Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson. Though the pick was a bit unexpected, given the strong cornerback prospects still available, Ferguson is a versatile player and an exceptional athlete with significant potential in Sean McVay’s offensive scheme.
At 6’5″ and over 250 pounds, Ferguson is a dynamic tight end—explosive, quick, and smooth as a route runner. He’s also physical after the catch and showcases impressive body control during adjustments. While he occasionally struggles with focus drops, Ferguson’s well-rounded skill set, strong blocking ability, and versatility make him an appealing offensive weapon for the Rams.
Ferguson has already noted that Oregon’s offensive system closely mirrors that of McVay’s Rams, which should help ease his transition to the NFL.
“Definitely. We took a lot of things from the Rams’ offense,” Ferguson said in his post-draft press conference. “We watched a lot of tape on them, so there’s definitely some carryover. Coach McVay is one of the best, and his offense uses motions to create space and attack—I’m excited to be part of that, dive into the playbook, and get started.”
Ferguson also reflected on how his time at Oregon prepared him for the NFL, both on and off the field.
“I think Coach Lanning really invested in me. He taught me the importance of hard work. We practiced intensely every week, and he demanded a lot from me. The offense at Oregon taught me a lot too, and that’s helped prepare me for the next level. Oregon’s culture is all about winning, and that mindset will carry over into the NFL,” Ferguson shared.
