Social Media Explodes as Riley Leonard Is Drafted by the Colts
It was an exciting day for football fans of both Notre Dame and the Indianapolis Colts. Riley Leonard, the Notre Dame quarterback, made history on Saturday by becoming the first Fighting Irish quarterback ever selected in the NFL Draft, picked 189th overall by the Colts. Leonard now heads to Indianapolis, where he could potentially make a push up the quarterback depth chart.
While the Colts have a few quarterbacks on their roster, none are solidified as clear starters. Anthony Richardson, a recent high draft pick, is still working to find his rhythm, while Daniel Jones comes over after his time with the New York Giants. Jason Bean of Kansas has also spent the past two years bouncing on and off the Colts’ depth chart.
The future is uncertain for Leonard, but his journey now begins in Indianapolis—and social media was buzzing with excitement about this new chapter on Saturday.
