NC State Basketball Announces Signing of Versatile Guard Alyn Breed
The 2025-26 NC State basketball team has officially added former McNeese State guard Alyn Breed to its roster. Breed becomes the first player to commit to head coach Will Wade after his move from McNeese State to NC State in late March.
Breed, who spent last season under Wade’s guidance at McNeese State, previously played three years at Providence before an injury cut his 2024-25 campaign short after just two games with the Cowboys. Given their history together, it’s no surprise that Breed is the first transfer addition officially announced by NC State for this cycle.

On Monday, the Wolfpack confirmed Breed’s commitment, with Coach Wade expressing his excitement: “I’m thrilled to have Alyn join us at NC State. He’s a player I know very well. He has the potential to be a strong two-way player for us. He began his career at Providence as more of a defensive presence, but he’s worked hard on his offensive game, and now he’s a threat at all three levels. He can shoot, score, and is also a reliable ballhandler.”

Breed, originally a three-star recruit out of Georgia, is now rated as a four-star transfer, ranking No. 240 overall and No. 64 among shooting guards in the 247Sports Transfer Rankings. He is one of six transfers that have joined NC State under Wade’s leadership, helping the Wolfpack secure the No. 33-ranked transfer class in the country.
