Running back CharMar Brown was originally scheduled to announce his transfer destination on Monday, but that decision has now been made — he’s committed to Miami out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Brown picked the Hurricanes over Nebraska and other programs including California, LSU, Indiana, Arkansas, and West Virginia. His final decision followed recent visits to Coral Gables, Lincoln, and Berkeley. After narrowing his options to Miami and Nebraska, he ultimately chose to continue his career with the Hurricanes.

Brown entered the portal during the spring window after completing his redshirt freshman season at North Dakota State. In his first college campaign, he logged 244 carries for 1,181 rushing yards — averaging 73.8 yards per game and 4.8 per carry — and scored 15 touchdowns. His performance earned him the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in the FCS, along with Freshman of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Second Team All-MVFC honors in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Following those accomplishments, Brown was among the most sought-after names in the portal post-spring. According to the latest On3 Industry Ranking of 2025 transfer prospects, he was ranked No. 677 overall and No. 47 among running backs, and was the 12th-highest rated uncommitted RB prior to his pledge.

For ongoing updates on portal movement, be sure to follow On3’s Transfer Portal wire, along with their Instagram and Twitter accounts.
