Duke Basketball Adds Former High-Scoring Star to Coaching Staff
Duke basketball has officially announced the addition of Evan Bradds to its coaching staff, filling the spot vacated by Jai Lucas when he took the head coaching job at Miami in early March.
Bradds, a two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, joins Duke after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz under head coach Will Hardy. In 2023, he also served as the head coach of the Jazz’s Summer League team.
“We’re excited to add Evan to our staff,” said head coach Jon Scheyer. “He brings an incredible basketball IQ, NBA player development experience, and a rare ability to forge meaningful relationships with players, which is key to our culture. His insight, vision, and innovative approach will help ensure Duke remains at the forefront of college basketball.”
Before his time with the Jazz, Bradds had a four-year stint with the Boston Celtics, following the start of his coaching career with the Maine Red Claws in the G League.
Bradds had an outstanding collegiate career at Belmont, where he earned two OVC Player of the Year honors and became the Bruins’ all-time leading scorer with 1,921 points. The 6-foot-7 forward was a standout player during Belmont’s transition to Division I basketball.
Bradds will join a staff that includes associate head coach Chris Carrawell, assistant coach Will Avery, and director of player development Justin Robinson, alongside assistant coach Emanuel Dildy.
