Dallas Stars Faces Hard Pill to Swallow
The Dallas Stars are going to have to win without two key players in the lineup tonight. Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen will not be available until later tonight against the Avalanche. The Stars are going to have to fight hard to eliminate the Avalanche that’s ready to cause havoc.
The Dallas Stars shared some disappointing news yesterday that upset a number of fans: Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson have been ruled out for tonight’s crucial Game 7 against the Colorado Avalanche. While it’s a tough blow, the Stars need to put their best effort into defeating the Avalanche. This means players will have to give their all and block shots on the ice. The Stars can claim victory tonight, but it ultimately depends on the players’ determination to keep playing.
It’s definitely disheartening to be without Robertson and Heiskanen in this series. Both suffered significant injuries at different times—Heiskanen’s injury occurred when Mark Stone collided with his knee in Vegas, and Robertson was hurt in Nashville. Unfortunately, injuries are a part of hockey and can happen at any stage of the season. The Stars’ focus now should be on their goals for the season with the players available.
The team could really benefit from Jason Robertson’s scoring prowess tonight. He had been on a scoring streak after the 4 Nations Tournament and during the latter part of the regular season. While it would be great to have him on the top line, they will need to adapt with Mikael Granlund stepping in. The Stars performed well in Game 6, assuming the rest of the team executed their responsibilities (except for Otter). It would have been nice to have a break while Winnipeg and St. Louis battle it out on Sunday.
Miro Heiskanen’s leadership on defense has been sorely missed this series. The number of back-door goals the Avalanche scored in Game 6 was alarming. The Stars could have potentially eliminated the Avalanche if players like Cody Ceci had known how to defend better in front of the net. Now, they face an Avalanche team eager to advance in the playoffs. The Stars shouldn’t dwell on what could have been had both players been healthy.
The Stars need to concentrate on overcoming the Avalanche tonight and resting up for the next round. If they succeed in advancing, they’ll face a strong contender, whether it’s Winnipeg or St. Louis. Tonight is a fight for their playoff lives; they must move forward without Heiskanen and Robertson in the lineup.
