Rutgers football commit Wydeek Collier is pleased with what he’s been hearing and experiencing from the coaching staff. The skilled edge rusher is fully committed to the Scarlet Knights after spending significant time with the coaches over the past week.
As a four-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite, Collier ranks as the No. 10 overall prospect in Pennsylvania for the class of 2026. He visited Rutgers last week for the Scarlet-White spring game, and on Friday, he had an in-home visit with running backs coach Damiere Shaw, who recruits the Philadelphia area for Rutgers.
“Our relationship is fantastic. I really like the program. Whenever my family and I visit, it always feels like home,” Collier said to Scarlet Nation about Shaw.
Rutgers football has secured a significant commitment for its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of standout athlete Wydeek Collier from Neumann-Goretti High School in Philadelphia. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound edge rusher announced his decision on January 19, choosing the Scarlet Knights over other notable programs, including Penn State, Miami, Syracuse, and West Virginia.
Collier’s commitment is a testament to Rutgers’ persistent recruiting efforts. He visited the campus four times in 2024, three of which were during game days, allowing him to experience the team’s environment firsthand . Despite receiving offers from several prominent programs, including Florida State and North Carolina, Collier felt a strong connection with Rutgers’ coaching staff, which played a pivotal role in his decision.
On the field, Collier is known for his versatility and athleticism. During his junior season, he recorded 34 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and eight sacks on defense, while also contributing offensively with 13 receptions for 270 yards and two touchdowns . His impressive physical attributes, including an 83-inch wingspan and a 4.6-second 40-yard dash, make him a formidable presence on the edge.
Collier’s commitment adds to Rutgers’ growing 2026 class, joining other recruits like wide receivers Dyzier Carter and Elias Coke.
