Virginia Tech Football Strengthens Offensive Line with SEC Transfer
The Hokies have secured another top-tier recruit.

On Tuesday afternoon, Virginia Tech added a new offensive line transfer in Jaden Muskrat from Auburn.

Muskrat spent two seasons at Auburn, where he played in every game, including a backup role at left tackle last year for an Auburn team that finished with a 5-6 record, suffering losses to six SEC teams.

Here’s an excerpt from All Auburn on SI regarding Muskrat’s transfer:

“Muskrat, who transferred from Tulsa where he was coached by Auburn’s Offensive Coordinator Philip Montgomery, was the only offensive lineman Auburn signed in the Spring transfer portal. He appeared in all 12 games for Tulsa in 2022, starting at right tackle in the final nine games. At Auburn, he’s expected to transition to an interior lineman, likely at one of the guard positions.”

“Muskrat, a native of Tulsa, OK, attended West Bentonville High School in Bentonville, AR, where he earned 7A All-State honors in 2019. He redshirted his freshman year at Tulsa but played in four games as a right tackle, including three quarters off the bench in the AAC Championship game and a start in the Armed Forces Bowl against Mississippi State. He was limited to just four games in 2021 due to injury.”

Virginia Tech has undergone a significant transformation after a disappointing 6-7 season last year. Since then, the Hokies have lost 30 transfers, including key players like cornerback Mansoor Delane, offensive linemen Braelin Moore, and Xavier Chaplin.

However, Virginia Tech has been active in the transfer portal, securing a strong group of new recruits and coaching staff. After parting ways with offensive and defensive coordinators Tyler Bowen and Chris Marve, the Hokies brought in Philip Montgomery and Sam Siefkes, along with 29 incoming transfers, including Muskrat and four other offensive linemen.
