Cardinals Sign Former Packers/Jaguars TE Josiah Deguara
The Arizona Cardinals have officially added a new tight end to their roster, signing Josiah Deguara to a one-year contract.

“Deguara (6-2, 240) played in 65 games (10 starts) across five NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers (2020-2023) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (2024). He was selected by Green Bay in the third round (94th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati. Throughout his career, Deguara has recorded 50 receptions for 450 yards and two touchdowns, and he’s also made 11 tackles in over 800 special teams snaps. Last season with Jacksonville, Deguara appeared in 15 games, tallying three receptions and a career-high five special teams tackles.
As a senior at the University of Cincinnati in 2019, he served as team captain and was named a first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection, leading the team with 39 receptions for 504 yards and seven touchdowns.”
Deguara joins a crowded tight end group in Arizona, with notable players like Trey McBride, Tip Reiman, and Elijah Higgins already established at the top of the depth chart.
With the addition of Deguara, the Cardinals now have six tight ends on the roster heading into training camp, including Travis Vokolek and Oscar Cardenas.
While Deguara faces stiff competition in a room filled with talent, his experience on special teams could be where he makes the biggest impact. Over the last three seasons, he has played at least 47% of special teams snaps.
Given the Cardinals’ preference for their top trio of McBride, Higgins, and Reiman, and their decision to keep only four tight ends last year, it remains to be seen whether Deguara can earn a spot on the final roster by outplaying Vokolek or Cardenas.
