CORVALLIS – Oregon State men’s basketball has bolstered its 2025-26 roster with the addition of forward Stephen Olowoniyi, head coach Wayne Tinkle announced Monday.
A 6-foot-8 native of Melbourne, Australia, Olowoniyi arrives in Corvallis after a strong season at Southern Indiana, where he started 29 games. He averaged 13.9 points and led the team with 6.8 rebounds per game, recording six double-doubles, including a standout 26-point, 13-rebound performance against Tennessee Tech. He shot an efficient 59.1% from the field and contributed over one block per game.
“Stephen is a high-character young man with tremendous potential,” Tinkle said. “He’s an elite shot blocker and finisher who brings a level of athleticism we’ve been missing at that position. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the program.”
Before his time at Southern Indiana, Olowoniyi played his freshman season at VMI, appearing in 32 games and posting averages of 7.7 points and 5.3 rebounds. He had a season-high 16 points against Samford. In high school, he starred at the Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, where he earned All-State honors by averaging 13.2 points and 9.2 rebounds. He also received an invite to the U19 Australian National Team.
“Oregon State stood out to me because the coaches were consistent from the moment I entered the portal and stayed in touch even after I committed,” Olowoniyi said. “They’re focused on winning and have a track record of developing pros at my position, so it was an easy decision.”
He joins newcomers Jorge Diaz Graham, Keziah Ekissi, and Olavi Suutela as part of the Beavers’ incoming class.
