Josh Allen Expected to Reclaim Fantasy QB Crown from 2x NFL MVP
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen may have slipped slightly in the 2024 fantasy football rankings, but he’s projected to return to the top in 2025. According to Sports Illustrated’s fantasy football expert, Michael Fabiano, Allen is poised to reclaim the No. 1 spot, despite stiff competition from three other dual-threat quarterbacks.
Allen holds the top spot in Fabiano’s latest 2025 fantasy rankings, followed by two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson in second. Super Bowl LIX MVP Jalen Hurts comes in at No. 3, with last season’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Jayden Daniels, rounding out the top four.
Although Allen edged out Jackson for the MVP award in 2024, Jackson managed to outscore Allen in fantasy, leapfrogging him for the No. 1 position in the final 2024 fantasy rankings. In 2023, Allen finished as the top fantasy QB with 385.6 points, but last season, Jackson finished with 411.4 points, while Allen scored 385.0, securing the second spot.
Despite the slight dip in 2024, Allen has been a consistent top performer in fantasy, finishing no worse than QB2 over the last five seasons and tallying 40+ total touchdowns each year. In 2024, Allen threw for 28 touchdowns and rushed for 12 more. However, due to the Bills often having games in hand, Allen played 106 fewer snaps than Jackson, which contributed to his lower overall fantasy scoring.
Looking ahead, Allen and Jackson will face off in 2025 at Highmark Stadium, with the exact date to be announced when the NFL releases the 2025 schedule on May 14. While the Ravens defeated the Bills in Baltimore during the regular season, Buffalo managed a 27-25 victory in the divisional round.
