Cowherd Says Vikings Might Regret Letting Darnold Go, Sticks to Last-Place Prediction
Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd has not changed his stance on the Minnesota Vikings, doubling down on his previous prediction that they’ll finish last in the NFC North. Earlier, Cowherd had stated that the Vikings had the “worst roster” in the division, and his opinion remains unchanged after the 2025 NFL Draft.
On his FS1 show The Herd, Cowherd updated his division predictions following the draft, once again placing the Vikings at the bottom of the NFC North. He also predicted that the Detroit Lions would win the division, the Chicago Bears would take second, and the Green Bay Packers would finish third.

“I think the Bears make it into the playoffs. I like Jordan Love, though I think there are still concerns about him. They have a few defensive needs, and they went with another wide receiver,” Cowherd said. “The Vikings will be a solid fourth-place team. I think letting Sam Darnold go could be something they regret.”
Darnold had a career year in 2024, posting personal bests in passing yards (4,319), touchdowns (35), quarterback rating (102.5), QBR (60.4), and completion percentage (66%). However, it’s worth noting that Cowherd is a big Darnold supporter, which could influence his perspective. Meanwhile, the Vikings seem confident in J.J. McCarthy, who is set to become the full-time starter. If McCarthy performs well, the Vikings have the potential to be just as good—or even better—than they were last season.
