Julian Lewis Brings 5-Star High-Level Talent to Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes

Julian Lewis, the new quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, is already making an impact on the recruiting trail. Last weekend, he took the initiative to connect with several top recruits who were officially visiting Boulder. Five-star edge rusher Jake Kreul recently shared that Lewis spent time with him and other recruits, bonding and getting to know them better during their visit.

Lewis, a freshman from Carrollton, Georgia, is no stranger to the recruiting process. As a five-star prospect, he originally committed to USC before flipping to join coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes in November 2024. Now, he’s competing with dual-threat transfer Kaidon Salter from Liberty to take over the starting quarterback role after Shedeur Sanders, who is headed to the NFL.

During Colorado’s spring game last month, Lewis took first-team reps, and since then, he’s been proactive in building relationships with his new teammates and the recruits visiting Boulder. As a quarterback, Sanders was often a key factor in attracting transfers and recruits to Colorado, and Lewis is following in those footsteps.

Much like Sanders, who helped bring in players like wide receiver LaJohntay Wester through social media efforts, Lewis is looking to establish connections with a group of high-profile recruits. This list includes Kreul, five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo, four-star wide receiver Jase Mathews, and four-star running back KJ Edwards.
