Utah Hockey Club Makes Huge Unveiling

It’s now official: the Utah Hockey Club has been rebranded. After a year-long transition, the team announced on Wednesday morning that its new name and identity is the Utah Mammoth, inspired by the massive creatures that lived during the Ice Age thousands of years ago.

Utah Hockey Club Unveils Mammoth as the Team’s New Brand

This change has been anticipated for a while by the Utah franchise. Following the acquisition of all assets from the former Arizona Coyotes by Smith Entertainment Group, the team moved to Utah and has since gained significant popularity, often nearing full attendance at home games.

The new name takes over from the previous one, which served as a temporary placeholder until a permanent name was established. The Utah organization conducted a fan vote during its inaugural 2024-2025 season, receiving nearly 900,000 ballots, with the Mammoth being the final choice. There was even a possibility that the team could have retained the Hockey Club name.

During the naming process, there was some copyright conflict when Utah tried to include “Yeti” in the list of potential team names for fan voting, but this option was not allowed. As a result, Utah pivoted and added “Wasatch” to the list, though it quickly dropped off the ballot due to a lack of fan interest. Ultimately, the final options for voting were Utah Hockey Club, Utah Mammoth, and Utah Outlaws, with Mammoth emerging as the winner.

Mammoth Jerseys and Logos

In addition to the name change, the team also revealed its new jerseys and logos. The Mammoth will maintain the same color scheme as the Hockey Club, with the primary alteration being the introduction of a new Mammoth logo on the front of the black home jersey. The away jersey will continue to feature the diagonal “Utah” text from the inaugural season. Fans can start purchasing Mammoth merchandise online on May 14 through the NHL shop.

With a fresh name, the organization aims to capitalize on this season’s success and strive for a playoff spot next year. Utah came close but missed the mark, so fans can anticipate a different outcome next season. Exciting times are ahead for Utah, and “Tusks up” is now the rallying cry for supporters!
