BYU Football Makes Prince Williams’ Top Five for Edge Rusher
BYU has made it to the top five for one of the top edge rusher prospects in the West. On Thursday, Nevada native Prince Williams revealed his top five schools, with BYU making the list alongside Utah, Miami, Arizona, and Wisconsin. Williams also holds offers from schools like Florida, Tennessee, Arizona State, Cal, Iowa State, UCLA, and Washington.

Williams is an Under Armour All-American and a Max Preps All-American. He plays for powerhouse Bishop Gorman, where he helped lead the team to a national championship as a sophomore. The talented defensive lineman has already visited BYU’s campus for an unofficial trip and plans to return for an official visit in the summer.

In his junior season, Williams recorded 11 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, and 61 quarterback hurries. As a sophomore, he posted 10 sacks and 24 tackles for loss. While he mostly played on the edge for Bishop Gorman, he also had some snaps along the interior defensive line. Standing at 255 pounds, Williams could potentially transition to a defensive tackle at the next level.
Known for his quickness off the line of scrimmage and his aggressive, violent style of play, Williams is a force both in the run game and as a pass rusher. His combination of power and athleticism makes him one of the most sought-after recruits. Currently a high three-star prospect, Williams has the potential to rise to a four-star rating by signing day.
Since Jay Hill’s appointment as BYU’s defensive coordinator, the Cougars have focused heavily on recruiting top-tier defensive linemen. With significant progress made on the 2025 roster, which could feature one of the most talented defensive lines in the Kalani Sitake era, securing a commitment from a player like Prince Williams would be a huge boost for the future of the program.
